Our ServicesThe Carol Blake Center houses most of the services provided by Abilities Plus

Abilities Plus serves children and adults with developmental disabilities in Henry, Stark, and western Bureau Counties.  Some of our programs are offered in the home, while others occur at our agency in Kewanee, Illinois.

Children's Services
Abilities Plus offers two programs for children ages birth to three.  Early Intervention (EI) is available for children with a diagnosed disability or a delay of 30 percent or greater.  Children enrolled in the program can receive services from developmental, physical, speech, and occupational therapists.  Toddler, Infant, Parent, Services (T.I.P.S.) is a program for children who do not qualify for EI.  These children may have a mild delay, but this is not necessary for enrollment in the program.  T.I.P.S. focuses on parent education concerning appropriate child development.  If you would like more information about these programs, please visit our Contact Us page for the Director of Community Support's contact information.

Adult Day Programs
Abilities Plus offers three programs for adults with disabilities.  Developmental Training (DT) allows clients to work on life skills and personal goals in a classroom environment.  Goals are set by the individual and his/her family.  DT also focuses on community integration activities.  Work Services is an option for adult clients who are more job-ready.  This environment allows individuals to work on job skills, and, once they are ready, receive assistance in obtaining a job in the community.  Abilities Plus has dedicated staff helping our individuals find meaningful employment that fit their skills and interests.  Clients engaged in Job Placement benefit from assistance finding and applying for jobs, as well job coaches once they secure employment in the community.  If you would like more information about these programs, please visit our Contact Us page for the Director of Employment & Training's contact information.

Residential Services
Abilities Plus provides housing in the community for 11 individuals.  Through the use of a newly constructed group home and one rental property, these individuals can live independently from their families and increase their self-sufficiency.

Recently, Abilities Plus opened the doors of its new community home for adults with developmental disabilities.  The facility allowed the agency to combine three current rental properties into one eight-bed group home.  The project also enabled the agency to take advantage of cost savings while providing a home that is secure, accessible, and comfortable for residents with varying disabilities.  If you would like more information about the new community home, please visit the New Group Home page.

If you would like more information about the Residential program, please visit our Contact Us page for the Director of Community Support's contact information.

Community Support
Abilities Plus provides assistance to people in the community who care for an individual with a disability.  Respite services give caregivers an opportunity to leave their loved ones in the care of a trained professional while they attend to other matters.  Abilities Plus also facilitates home-based support, which provides assistance to those who act as the primary caregiver for an individual with a disability.  The agency also helps families coordinate services with the funds they have available.    If you would like more information about these programs, please visit our Contact Us page for the Director of Community Support's contact information.

Transportation
Abilities Plus operates Henry County Public Transportation.  All vans are handicap accessible.  The service is open to anyone in the community.  Individuals receiving services at Abilities Plus can also use the transportation system to travel from their homes to the agency or a job in the community.  If you would like more information about these services, please visit our Contact Us page for the Director of Employment & Training's contact information.
